You should make
an appointment with your financial aid counselor immediately. If you are
studying at CESA,
you may be able to use all of your
Virginia Tech, federal and state financial aid: loans, and grants. Receiving
financial aid for a Virginia Tech program abroad works the same way
it works for studies on campus.
The only additional requirement is the
completion of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid's
Study Abroad
Program Documentation form. This form helps in documenting all of the costs associated
with studying abroad, including airfare. Fill out the top of the
documentation form, then submit it to your program director, who will
sign it and send it to Education Abroad office in OIRED (1820 Litton
Reaves Hall).
If you do not receive aid currently,
you may qualify for the term you will be abroad. Fill out the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form available
in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid in 200 Student Services
Building. This form must be on file in order for you to be considered
for any type of aid. Fill it out even if you are unsure at this point
- it can only help the process in the long run.

Students who participate in a
residential program at CESA and who have financial need (as documented
by the FAFSA and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid) can apply
for additional need-based scholarships. If you are interested in
applying for one of these need-based scholarships, you must submit a
separate application.
