* As soon as possible, see a financial aid counselor to discuss your loan needs during your semester and any financial options available through their office. Be sure to inform the counselor of all costs of the program, including a breakdown of tuition, room & board, travel expenses, fees, etc.
* Make sure someone (parent, sister, brother) has provided permission in writing, to the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid to discuss any problems that may occur during your absence from the US. Make sure this person understands the information before you leave.
* A month before leaving, you should follow up with your financial aid counselor to verify that all aid is in place and necessary paperwork is complete.

Two weeks before leaving, you should check with the Bursar’s Office to verify that charges at the University are paid. This includes all program costs, any library fines, parking fines, infirmary charges, etc.

* Before leaving, you should change your address with the University Registrar so that you can receive important correspondence without delay.
* Verify that your direct deposit is in place and going to the correct account.
