Project Overview:
The Peanut CRSP, managed by the University of Georgia, works to improve the health and livelihood of people in West Africa by addressing aflatoxin and gender-related constraints in peanut production, processing and marketing. OIRED-led socioeconomic research conducted in East Africa focuses on the consequences of policy changes and the impact of peanut research on production. The aflatoxin project is examining gender roles and strategies for preventing aflatoxin contamination in peanuts. Aflatoxin contamination is a major health problem in Africa.
