Chapter News
During the past school
year, the Virginia Tech chapter (Gamma Omega) of Phi Beta Delta,
the honor society for international scholars, has been actively
involved in the promotion and recognition of international scholarship,
teaching, and service. Since the restructuring of the University
Office of International Programs, Phi Beta Delta now enjoys renewed
staff support from the new Office of International Research, Education,
and Development.
New officers were
installed for 2003-2004: Moses Panford, President;
Professor Terry L. Clements, Vice President Faculty/Staff;
Myrna Ransome, Vice President International Students;
Michael Crouch, Vice President United States
Students; Thomas Howard, Secretary; Aris
Spanos, Treasurer.
The Induction Ceremony
for Fall 2004 will be held on Nov 17th, 2004. The application
deadline is Oct 20th, 2004.
The Gamma Omega
Chapter is also preparing to host a South East Regional meeting
of Phi Beta Delta chapters in November of 2004. Through the work
of Professor Justo Ulloa, the meeting will be
in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the South Atlantic Modern
Language Association (SAMLA). You can find more information about
SAMLA at http://www.samla.org. This will be an
important opportunity for planning additional regional collaboration
on international projects and activities. more
