Experience Summary: Dr. Guilbaud is an educator and researcher with over 18 years of functional and consulting expertise. Dr. Guilbaud is an expert in eLearning, mLearning (Handhelds/Pocket PCs/PDAs), blended learning, and adult instruction.

As Program Director for Information Technology in International Education at OIRED, Dr. Guilbaud's primary role is to provide leadership and to strengthen the capabilities of the department in the deployment of ICT/Distance Learning/Online Management Training initiatives with a global focus. Before coming to the university setting, Dr. Guilbaud worked for over 10 years as a program manager, management consultant, and systems analyst/engineer in the deployment of large-scale and mission critical telecommunications, healthcare management, and social welfare software development and implementation projects.

Dr. Guilbaud's current academic and research activities are focused on the discovery of instructional approaches, techniques, and insights that will improve online-based instruction and professional training. Dr. Guilbaud is particularly interested in evaluating the benefits and challenges associated in extending learning opportunities to diverse populations through the use of advanced and distributed learning platforms.

Dr. Guilbaud has developed and taught courses, workshops, and seminars at international sites and at the University of Virginia via distance learning methods. Topics of instruction have included information technology, project management, instructional design, learning theory, systems analysis/design, healthcare informatics, risk management, and decision analysis.
