Experience Summary: Dr. Moore has over 25 years of worldwide experience in the design, implementation and analysis of agricultural and natural resource-based projects and policies. His activities have included managing research and technology transfer programs, diagnosing institutional and technical constraints, designing information systems, and facilitating stakeholder communication. He is presently Associate Program Director for the Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Management Collaborative Research Support Program (SANREM CRSP) in the Office of International Research, Education, and Development at Virginia Tech with proven leadership in the administration and implementation of international donor-funded research and technical assistance projects (averaging over 2 million dollars annually).
His strengths as an advisor, team builder, and facilitator of cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary communication have been demonstrated through his leadership in the global Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and SANREM CRSPs, the Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM-Senegal), the Pest and Pesticide Management (PPMP-Ukraine), and the Dryland Agriculture Applied Research Projects (DAARP-Morocco). In addition, he has coordinated development of Core Training for Agriculture and Natural Resource Sector Staff in The World Bank and taught Sociology at graduate and undergraduate levels at the Oklahoma State University, University of Indiana-Shah Alam (Malaysia), and the University of Wisconsin. His ability to catalyze and coalesce diverse perspectives into coherent action plans has assured achievement of project objectives and stakeholder satisfaction.
For his work on natural resource policy and practices, Dr. Moore was selected Kellogg Leadership Development Fellow at Resources for the Future and has reviewed reports for the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment. In addition to leading various multicultural and interdisciplinary team building exercises and workshops, he was officially recognized for leadership in state-wide public/private sector planning sessions leading to the Oklahoma State Economic Development Plan.
